Shin Pain
Our consultant MSK Podiatrist Jonathan Palmer BSc (Pod) FFPM RCPS (Glasg). FCPM has extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of chronic Shin Pain & exercise induced Lower Limb Pain following 20 years of Podiatry services to HM Royal Marines Commando Training Centre.
Hip Pain
Rotational control deficiences in the Foot and Limb can lead to Hip Bursitis. Females are more commonly affected by this condition. Foot Orthoses can help control excessive Foot Pronation which can cause stresses around the Greater Trochanter. This can lead to the whole Limb internally rotating excessively.
Foot & Ankle Pain
In clinic Foot structure and poor function or control are often the causes of pain in the Foot and Ankle. We know that the cumulative effects of mechanical and systemic influences can affect the severity of the presenting problems. Custom Orthoses can help management effectively.
Knee Pain
Knee Pain can often be helped with the introduction of Foot Orthoses. Custom Orthoses can specifically help conditions caused by poor rotational control: e.g. Patello-Femoral Syndrome, Illio-Tibial Band, Patella Tendon, Chronic Hamstring issues etc. Control of the Foot & Limb rotation in stance phase can often be improved with 3DFootPrint Orthoses.
Lower Back Pain
The spine and general posture are affected by Foot Function in many different ways. Limb Length Inequalities are a common cause of Exercise Induced Limb and Pelvic Pain. Foot Orthoses can be designed and produced with asymetrical shapes and often help with Limb and Pelvic asymetry.

Plantar Heel Pain
Plantar Fasciopathy affects at least 1 in 10 patients. Reducing traction on the Plantar Aponeurosis with Custom Orthoses will help most Heel Pain sufferers over time in conjunction with other modalities (e.g. Stretching, Footwear, Shockwave Therapy etc). Heel Pain is complex and often involves the Fat Pad, Baxter’s Nerve and underlying bone (oedema) in chronic cases. Controlling the Foot in stance phase with Custom Orthoses can have positive effects on symptoms and often prevents re-occurrence.

Achilles Tendon Pain
The most common factors contributing to Achilles Tendinopathy are training errors, excessive loading and foot function issues. With Foot Pronation and Supination, the medal and lateral head of Gastrocnemius and the Soleus Muscles are in constant state of traction, load and change. In cases of excessive movement (with e.g. Flat Foot) the tendency to Achilles Tendon Pathology increases. Custom Foot Orthoses can help control movement, improve function and reduce load.

Midfoot Pain
The small key bones of the human midfoot are not designed to last as long as we do in our modern day lives. The bones and joints of the Midfoot can easily become damaged over time with systemic or inflammatory disease or as a result of trauma. A Hypermobile Foot when young can turn into a rigid fixed Flatfoot if not managed and supported. The human Foot is a precious gift to enable locomotion. Custom Foot Othoses can help manage the load.

Forefoot Pain
Many affectations of the Forefoot can be eased with 3DFootOrthoses. Hallux Limitus, Neuromas and Plantar Plate Tears can all be treated with Custom Foot Orthoses. Post surgical Feet are often very grateful of additional support and better function.

Ankle Sprains
Ankle Sprains are extremely common. Some are just bad luck, others may be a result of ‘Chronic Ankle Instability’. Hypermobility of the Foot and Ankle will often benefit from improved control and the ‘tie-bar’ effect of 3DFootPrint Orthoses.

Tendinopathy
Tendinopathy presents in various forms in the Foot. Early identification and control of e.g. Posterior Tibial Tendinopathy (often preceeded by Plantar Heel Pain) can be a good opportunity to manage Foot function with Custom Foot Orthoses. Early management will help prevent further complex problems in the future.
Other Injuries
Stress Fractures
Stress Fractures are common in the 2nd & 3rd metatarsal bones. These stress fractures are notoriously difficult and easy to miss on plain film imaging. Introduce off-loading early and get back to weight bearing with a pair of 3DFootPrint Orthoses. Help your patients get back to their daily activities as soon as possible.
Neuroma
A Neuroma in some cases can be managed effectively with 3DFootPrint Products and correct footwear choices.
The 3rd interspace with its fixed pivot point around the 4th Metatarsal head can be helped with Orthotic control of Foot function. The close contact fit of 3DFootPrint Orthoses will also help.
Sesamoiditis
Sesamoiditis is a common pain syndrome that affects the Forefoot. It is especially common in distance running, football playing and dancing patient groups as well as in the jumping sports.
Ensuring collaborative loading and offloading of the Forefoot across the total Metatarsal Parabola with Custom Foot Orthoses can ease this condition.
Plantar Plate Tears
Plantar Plate Injuries are most commonly found at the 2nd toe/ Metatarsal head area, where the long Metatarsal is “morticed” into the Midfoot and the whole Foot pivots and breaks at this vulnerable point. Offloading with 3DFootPrint Orthoses along with form rocker bottom footwear can help manage this diffucult condition.
